Gillian trained with Moore Stephens and qualified in 1993. Since then she has specialised in the charity sector, and now leads the firm’s specialist charity audit team. She has extensive practical experience of auditing Scotland’s leading charities. She is also responsible for ensuring technical compliance with charity regulation across all service groups within the Edinburgh and Glasgow offices.
On the other side of the fence, she acts as treasurer to six charities, ranging in size from having annual income of around £50,000 to £10 million. This range sees her involved over a whole spectrum of issues affecting the sector.
Gillian’s strategic involvement is also considerable. She represented the accountancy profession on the Scottish Charity Law Review Commission and is a member of the ICAS Charities Working Party.
Working with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS), Gillian is one of its specialist charity lecturers and for a number of years has chaired its Charity Conference.
