Moore Stephens LLP in Guildford and The GBC Partnership merged on 1 March 2008.
The merged firm creates a significant presence in Guildford and the surrounding area, with a total of five partners and over 40 staff.
Colin Moore, managing partner of Moore Stephens LLP, says that there is a strong commercial rationale for the merger. "This exciting development sees the integration of two like-minded firms with complementary expertise and skills. Working as one firm means that we will be able to focus more effectively on client needs, as well as giving those clients access to a wider range of services and capabilities."
The firm is a member of Moore Stephens UK, the 11th largest accountancy and business advisory association in the UK, with over 40 offices of independent member firms and 1,500 partners and staff.
Peter Hounslow, former Managing Partner of The GBC Partnership, says: "We see this merger as the next stage of our firm's development. Joining forces with Moore Stephens means that our clients will continue to receive the quality service they are used to, but with the addition of a wider range of support and expertise available from the new partners and staff locally, across the UK, and internationally."
Another constant is the importance placed on client relationships. "We place high emphasis on understanding our clients through strong and long-term relationships", says Peter. "This will not change. All clients will be serviced by the same team as they always have - the only difference will be the additional support they can expect from the rest of the association."
