Environmental and Social Management Systems (ESMS)

Overview

To be truly sustainable, organisations needs to put in place and continually improve systems for managing the impacts associated environmental and social contexts, and health and safety. An ESMS provides the framework for future-proofing your activities, establishing high level plans, setting objectives and seeking continuous improvements through monitoring performance and reviewing progress.

As per ISO 14001, EMAS and other standards, such systems should be regularly audited by third party experts. Similarly, health and safety standards (e.g. OHSAS 18001) and quality assurance standards (e.g. ISO 9001) help you put in place the policies, procedures and controls needed to ensure the smooth running of your operations.

Added value

We can analyse your organisation’s activities to develop an Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) tailored to current and future business activities.  We can help you ensure a seamless integration of the ESMS with existing processes and procedures, avoiding duplication of effort.

Our team can support you to:
  • develop and implement an ESMS and other management systems (including ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, EMAS etc.);
  • manage the ESMS process on behalf of your organisation, or second staff to help build internal capacity;
  • produce documentation and procedures related to the management and implementation of an ESMS;
  • undertake formal audits, or informal monitoring missions to guide compliance outside of formal reporting systems;
  • integrate automated information technologies for environmental and social data management.
