2018 has seen some significant regulatory developments including the implementation of the Insurance Distribution Directive and the extension of the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR) to insurers. Brexit continues to cause regulatory uncertainty and the extension of the SM&CR to all financial services firms means that there is more change to come. December brought further Brexit planning statements and advice, the results of the European wide insurer stress tests and messages from the FCA on the importance of cyber and technology resilience.
