Skilled Persons Reviews

What is a Skilled Persons Review?
The FCA and PRA have the power to commission reviews by Skilled Persons when a firm’s activities cause the regulator concern or when they require further analysis.

There are two types of Skilled Person Review under FSMA as amended by the 2012 Act that gives the FCA and the PRA the power to commission reviews by Skilled Persons as required:

  • s166 Reports by Skilled Persons; and/or

  • s166A Appointment of Skilled Person to collect and update information. 

A panel of Skilled Persons firms was appointed, and Moore Stephens was appointed to that panel in the following areas:

  • client assets;
  • governance, controls & risk frameworks;
  • conduct of business;
  • data and IT infrastructure;
  • financial crime;
  • prudential - insurance; and
  • prudential investment firms, intermediaries & RIE.
