Gerald Bates
Gerald is a member of the senior management group within our International Institutions & Donor Assurance team, dedicated to the provision of assurance and advisory services for grant-giving donors and the recipients of donor funds. In this capacity he has been involved in the management and delivery of over 1,500 assignments, having personally undertaken fieldwork in more than 40 countries. In particular, Gerald has delivered assignments for the European Commission and a range of UN agencies. Whilst currently serving a number of bilateral and multilateral donors, as well as funding platforms and recipients of donor funds, Gerald also heads-up our dedicated desk for providing assurance and advisory services for grant-giving charitable trusts and foundations. Gerald is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He also holds a post-graduate diploma in International Development from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences, where he graduated with Distinction and was presented with an award for achieving the highest award in his global cohort. Prior to his time at Moore Stephens, Gerald undertook a secondment with the Rwandan Development Board and trained as an accountant with a specialist focus on performing statutory audits of UK-registered charities. He has served as a Charity Trustee and delivered training on a number of areas including due diligence requirements for international NGOs.
