Update on the National Funding Formula for schools

On 14 September the Secretary of State for Education, Justine Greening, announced an update on the National Funding Formula to Parliament and to introduce “fairer” funding for schools.

She announced that it will provide a minimum funding level of £4,600 per pupil for secondary schools and £3,300 per pupil for primary schools from 2018-19, increasing slightly for 2019-20, along with a lump sum of £110,000 for every school.  She also confirmed the Government’s intention to continue with the proposals outlined last December for high-needs funding, which will see an increase.
