Moore Stephens is pleased to announce our sponsorship of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy’s (CIPFA) Counter Fraud Centre
. CIPFA launched the Centre in July 2014 to lead and co-ordinate the fight against fraud and corruption across the public services and is the UK’s first centre of excellence for counter fraud.
With a ten-fold increase since 1990 in fraud detected by England’s councils in 2013/14, it is more important than ever that robust efforts are made to drive down losses. Increased interaction and collaboration between the public and corporate sectors may have improved efficiency but it has also created greater complexities and opportunities for fraudsters. To appropriately tackle fraud it is vital that the best practices from all sectors, both at home and abroad, are brought together.
The sponsorship is part of our ongoing commitment to help clients fight against fraud and corruption. We have already embarked upon a series of regional workshops and will be working closely with CIPFA to devise a full programme of initiatives and events for 2015.John Baker
, Director of Counter Fraud and Corruption Services at Moore Stephens commented: “The Centre will provide the tools, training and ideas to shape the future of counter fraud and we are looking forward to working with CIPFA in partnership to fight against fraud and corruption, both in the UK and internationally.”
Rachael Tiffen, Head of the CIPFA Counter Fraud Centre, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Moore Stephens on board as one of our founding partners. We know that the landscape we operate in is changing and that public organisations face increasingly complex risks. But by working together and pooling our resources and expertise, we can develop new, innovative approaches to tackling fraud.”
