Club walks, outings or visits notice

We are often contacted by Club officers asking for suggested examples of the sort of notice that they should give their club members when arranging outing or walks, because of this we put together a number of suggested examples.

WARNING:The following are examples for consideration but appropriate advice should be taken as to inclusion. In other words, below are purely suggested wordings. Therefore, if you are in any doubt as to there legal standing please seek the advice from a Solicitor. The following suggestions are only intended to assist Clubs when arranging walks or visits.

Suggested style of paragraphs
Club Walk:
*Our next Club walk will be on the 30th April, meeting at the Rovers 10am sharp, parking is available in the municipal car park opposite. Our walk is from Pointers Hill to Potters Hill, part road, part fields including ploughed fields and crossing a number of stiles. Members are advised that we will be crossing a narrow bridge over a very deep ravine (1 mile drop). The walk covers a total distance of approximately 10½ miles.
Or
Club Visit or Short Breaks:
*A trip to the local sewage works. This will involve a visit to all sections of the treatment areas; some of which could give rise to nausea etc. Members should take this into account. Members must arrange their own personal travel insurances when going on one of the Club’s short breaks.

* Clearly these paragraph descriptions are individual to each walk or visit and would be changed accordingly, giving an accurate description of either the walk or place being visited, drawing out any particular features that may cause concern to some members. Likewise, give as much notice of the intended walk and the details as possible.

A suggested standard wording to accompany the "Club Walk, Visit or Short Breaks" paragraphs:
Members are reminded that it is their personal responsibility to decide on the level of their capability and whether they should participate in each of the Club activities. Where walks are arranged, brief details of the proposed walk will be given to each member a few days prior to the event. Again, members must take into account their own capabilities before joining the walk. In addition, members must wear and/or carry suitable apparel and walking aids to meet all weather and ground conditions.

Emergency: It would be helpful if members who have mobile phones bring them to facilitate communications, especially in the event of an emergency.
