Ellie, Outsourcing, Thames Valley
Tell us about yourself:
I started at Moore Stephens in September 2015 in the Outsourcing Department in the Thames Valley Office. I joined on the school leaver programme straight after finishing my A-levels in History, Business Studies and Accounting.
What’s your experience of Moore Stephens been so far?
Since joining I have had the opportunity to work on a range of different clients in a variety of industries which has made the role extremely interesting. I have been given increasing responsibility which, with the continuous support from my colleagues, makes day to day work more enjoyable. I have also made some great friends.
What’s the social life like?
The Thames Valley office is a friendly environment to work in. We often make time to go out for lunch, or in the evenings, as a department and occasionally as a whole office, including pay day drinks. The firm also organises the annual Christmas party, and various charity events for everyone to go along to and interact with other offices. These are also a good opportunity to see other trainees that I met in the induction process.
What’s been your best moment?
My best moment at Moore Stephens so far was the first time I completed a set of final accounts with limited assistance and got some good feedback from my managers. Although this was challenging, it was very rewarding to see a job through from start to end and show my capabilities.
What’s been your biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge I have faced has been the jump from a little, part-time weekend job to a full-time career with greater responsibilities and a more professional environment.
What will your next career move be?
After completing my AAT Level 3 and 4 I will have a good grounding to start studying towards my ACCA qualification. However, I also know that there are many opportunities to try out work in other departments, such as audit and tax, before I have made my decision.
If you were to give someone one reason to join Moore Stephens what would it be?
The friendly and supportive environment I work in is what I find to be the best thing about my job. From my first day I have felt like a part of the team, and I have never felt worried to ask questions or get help.
