Kaivalya, Corporate Audit, London

Tell us about yourself.

I’m currently studying Accounting and Finance at the University of Bath. I was attracted to join Moore Stephens due to its reputation as a top 10 accountancy firm, and also because I felt that it would provide the perfect environment to get a taste of audit.

What’s your experience of Moore Stephens been so far?

My experience at Moore Stephens has been wonderful. I have been treated as a first-year graduate and been given responsibilities of the the same weight. I have been able to work and communicate with clients across a range of sectors. My colleagues have been absolutely lovely in helping me to settle in, and have been very open to teaching me the ropes.

What’s the social life like?

There is a thriving social life within the firm. There are a number of events planned throughout the year within our trading desks (sector teams within corporate audit), which have included pub quizzes, ping pong and even ballet! There are frequent opportunities to socialise during drinks after work as well. Apart from this, there are also the annual Christmas and summer parties.

What’s been your best moment?

I think one of the best moments was a desk social which involved a ball pit – it was a great break after a day of hard work!

What’s been your biggest challenge?

One of the biggest challenges has been getting used to the rhythm of work life. Whether it’s communicating with colleagues and clients, or keeping up with the organisational skills required. It did take me some time to adapt. However, I feel that this got easier the more familiar I became with the processes and eventually my confidence increased.

What will your next career move be?

Over the course of the year, I have gained greater understanding of the skills and knowledge required for audit. After graduation I hope to pursue the ACA qualification while being engaged in a similar role, especially because I now have a clearer idea of what it will be like to work and study at the same time.

If you were to give someone one reason to join Moore Stephens what would it be?

Moore Stephens is an ideal place for both personal and professional development due to its friendly and open culture. During the time I have worked here, I have been able to learn so much from colleagues and the client jobs that I have worked on. At the same time, I have also been able to enhance skills I know will support me in the future.
